Brits: Do Americans "lose" our accent when we sing? Do we sing as if we're British?
Because to us Americans, it seems like Brits and Aussies sing with American accents. I had no idea that Tao Cruz was british or that Keith Urbain was an aussie
I think its hard to say you sing in an accent. This is because you change the way things sound when you sing. Some music and song draws on accent, folk, being a great example. Similarly Lilly Allen who talk/sings definitely draws on her accent.
So I think the answer is you can loose your American accent while singing but you don't go into a British accent. If you listen to how Taio Cruz pronounces Dynamite in said song it sound nothing like how an American, Australian or British person would ever say it.
