What is a good set up for a skateboard?
I am going to buy my first skateboard, I will be doing tricks as I learn them but will also be using it for alot of cruising with friends. I wanted to know what kind of trucks, bearings, wheels, and bushing I should get. Any help would be great.
I am more than likely going to be getting a good Blind deck, I was told that soft bushings would help with turning and whatnot, anyhelp with brand names, wheel sizes all that stuff.
Thanks
I would suggest you get medium to hard bushings too start off with as soft bearings are a little tricky to get used to and not very good for doing tricks as it is easier to loose your balance when you land tricks on soft bearings. I use thunder bushings rated at 97a (med-hard) and they do get looser as you break them in. As for trucks I use Thunder trucks they are light weight, tough wearing and turn well, they are also one of the few companys that supply their trucks with good bushings so you may not even have to replace them straight away. So maybe they would be good for you. I Death Skateboard wheels (these may not be available in the us?) but basically they are very similar to spitfires these may be good for you, id say a 52mm wheel is good for tricks and cruising but its all about personal choice. Finally bearings Bones Reds have got to be the best afordable bearings around!!! Seriously iv never heard any one who has them complain they are almost as good as Bones Swiss bearings at a fraction of the price honestly you wont be disapointed. Just remember to avoid water and really dusty areas, keep them clean (wash theme in acitone every so often) and lubricate them (especially after washing) useing only a specialty skateboard bearing lubricant like bones speed cream (do not use wd-40 this will atract dirt and lessen the life of your bearings) and they will stay smooth and slippy for ages!!! I hope this helps you and i hope you enjoy your first board. Good luck.
